Help me get my DD 1508 loud.

DD1508 1cf @40hz 3" external port firing to the side.Running 500-600 watts. In my extended cab s10. Frankly I'm not impressed so far. I dont know if I'm expecting too much since I downgraded from an 18" sub or what. But from all the hype I expected it to be louder. Also it sounds very "mechanical". may just need some break in, but never heard a sub sound like this running the subs RMS. Anyone have any suggestions? id say tune to 35 hz...i had a 4 inch aero on mine. Box was like .7 cubes, but i was running 1k to her. And make sure to give her time t obreak in, dd recommends atleast a month before you turn her all the way up

Well I tried it tuned around 33-34 hz. Thought that was the problem so I chopped the port down so it was 40hz and it opened up a little bit.. just not what I expected. My old Assassin 8's impressed me more than this has so far. I dont know if I can run this for a month to wait on it to break in. Something has to be wrong as I dont think my setup would impress anyone.

I just dont see being broke in changing the performance THAT much. Maybe I'll try a new box as this one was kind of slapped together. but it is to spec

Downgrading from an 18 I don't think anyone would be "Impressed" unless there was multiples

big difference between broken in and new...you need more port area too

0,8cuft and a 4" aero works best for the most, (please put some flares too!) if you read the whole 1508 thread on soundpressure forum, low hz and a single 8" is not a good option if you want it to be loud imo..

I know a lot of the big bass heads around here are impressed with the 1508, that is why I feel something is horribly wrong with my setup.

let it break in some and you definitely need more port area, you only have about 7 sq inches. You need a four inch port minimum and thats only gonna give you 12.5 sq in. Two threes would be better at 14 sq in.

I'll try a bigger port soon. plus give it a few weeks to break in
