hey guys,

First let my say that i have ZERO clue about car audio so excuse my ignorance. I just got a 2000 Lexus GS 300 and want to put a system in it. After some research and reading i have com up with this system. Let me know what you think and i am very willing to switch for something better if you guys have ideas. This is just my nooby list.

Headunit- Pioneer AVH-P4300dvd

Subs- 2 Alpine SWR-1043D 10" Subwoofers

Amplifier- AQ1200D Amplifier

Gonna Dynamat my entire trunk. Any opinions on this setup? All ipinions will be very helpful!

THX.

Oh and the subs are gonna be in a closed enclosure

Do you already have the subs or are you getting them very cheap? They are not bad by any means, but there are better out there if you are paying to much for them.

You still need a 4 gauge amp kit and an enclosure.

Probably $500 excluding the headunit. i want it loud AND to sound good lol. Is that unrealistic?
Its not unrealistic but $500 is a very low budget when looking at sub(s)/amp/enclosure

Also, the enclosure will make a huge difference in volume and overall sound.

I'm not a huge fan of going cheap, but if you must then

AUDIOPIPE MINI AMP MONO 1000 WATT MOSFET CAR AMPLIFIER | eBay

Decent power and it is cheap, and a few guys are using them in the $150 SPL challenge and doing very very well.

You could be a SA12 from SSA for $195 shipped but that only leaves $193 for wire and enclosure which is more then likely not enough. I can PM you a quote for custom ported enclosure..might be close with what I'm thinking, maybe a few bucks off to get the wiring kit. Then you still need the headunit and all wiring/install kit for that.

Would the audiopipe amp be able to power the 2 type R subs? and sry i dont know what a SA12 or SSA, remember im totally new to this. Any sub recommendations or am i good with the Alpines?

And a quote on an enclosure would be much appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IIRC those have factory components in front and rear as well as a factory sub. if that is the case, you are going to need a whole other plan than what you got. if not it still has factory components atleast in the front, how are you going to account for that with out replacing those speakers? i personally think you should re-evaluate what you are doing and replace the headunit as planned but replace the speakers in the cabin with an amp on them. than do your sub stage. unless all you want to hear is bass.

Yes the GS has a factory sub and amp in the trunk. Does that mean i have to change the speakers? Why cant i just add an amp and sub and call it a day?

You can, what he is saying is that you will have more bass then mids/highs when your turn it up. If you do the setup with some since though you should be fine, I would suggest upgrading them at some point though.
