Hey guys

I currently have 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Ps3D412 12” Dual 4 ohms Shallow mount subs installed in fiberglass pocket enclosures, and they ****. Given my amp specs, and enclosure info(depth, airspace, etc), can you recommend subs for me? If possible, I’d like 3 recommendations, High price, medium priced, and bang for buck price?. Here’s the info:

Amp-Alphasonik PMA 1000DA:

• 1000 watts x 1 @ 4 ohm mono

• 1500 Watts x 1 @ 2 ohms Mono

• 2060 Watts x 1 @ 1 ohms Mono

• Variable Low-Pass Filter: 50Hz - 150Hz @ 24dB/Octave

• Variable Subsonic Filter: 15Hz - 40Hz @ 24dB/Octave

• Variable Bass Boost @ 45Hz: 0 - +18dB

• Variable Phase Shift: 0 - 180°

• THD:

• Signal-to-Noise Ratio: >100dB

• Frequency Response: 5Hz - 250Hz

Fiberglass Speaker Enclosures Specs(see pic):

• Product dimensions: 750x450x250 mm.

• Appr. Airspace: Rt- 0.65 cu. ft. ,Lft- 0.71 cu. ft.

• Mounting Depth: Rt- 7.2 in. Lft- 8.1 in.

I posted in the Stereo Integrity forum and here was the jist of their response:

The box volume you're working with is also a bit large for a BM mkIII. See our FAQ thread and you'll see box volume vs power handling in there. And with the depth of your enclosures (close to 8"), you can almost use any subwoofer(s) you want...besides the low internal volume issue.
So I guess I'm looking for a normal sized (non-shallow mount) sub with max 7" mounting depth that will work in sealed fiberglass enclosure with .65 cu. ft. of airspace

I like most first timers here am a newb, so excuse my ignorance beforehand.

Would Lansar Opti 1232D's work? I would have to add 1" spacer due to depth, but their specs for sealed box is .8 cu. ft.

If I added Poly-fil would that make up for the .9-.15 difference in cu. ft., or am I looking at it wrong?

Lansar opti 1232D spec sheet

What are you after? Better SQ, louder and deeper? That tiny sealed fiberblah isn't going to give you eye watering bass even if you install a Warden in there. If you're after smooth, deep n loud bass then I suggest you to ditch that pocket box and make a bigger ported one(1.5~2 cf with polyfill) so you can install a beefy sub.

0.68 cf(remember the sub will displace some volume too) is for 8 inchers, not even the awesome old-school round Solo-Barics can work with that tiny hole.

Yeah, I need the space in hte back of my ride so I'll have to make due with whatever works best in those enclosures. Ideally louder and deeper, but if that small airspace will only get me better SQ then I'll take it. I'm just tryna find something that's sounds better and/or is deeper than the weak sauce RF PS3D12 shallow mounts I have now. I had two Alphasonik PSW812's in there for a while, but blew one of them. They sounded better the those **** RF's I have.

How about instead of the opti 1232D's, I go for the opti 1224D's, 200W's lower and I won't need any spacers to mount. They also need .8 cu. ft.

Spec Sheet

The only Sub I have ever heard that would play in that small air space is the Kicker Solo Classic 10inch Sub, which needs exactly .68QF of air space. Now, Don't ask me how it sounds because I don't have a clue and it is a Kicker so........

If you do hear one of those though, please post and let me know how they sound, I have been thinking about buying some for my wife mustang to get her more room in trunk.

KICKER S12C 12" 600W SOLO CLASSIC SUBWOOFER AUDIO SUB - eBay (item 330459760999 end time Nov-08-10 12:10:03 PST)

it is a decent sealed sub, the only kicker sub i like

IXL-12 v2 SL [iXL-12 v2 SL] - $169.00 : Mach 5 Audio

amazing sub 6.5 inches deep will handle 1000rms easy, box might be 2 small though

best bet would be dave at psi building you a custom sub for exactly what you need.

Platform 1 12" for Tom McIntosh - Car Audio Classifieds

heres his ps level 1 sub takes about 1000 rms and he can build it for a sealed enclosure

The SI BM12 mkIII linked above specs a MAX box size of .5 cf and I've yet to hear a bad thing about them.
x2

they arent going to get too loud, but polk mm 10s work in .66 cubic feet. wish i would have had polyfill in my sealed boxes before i went ported to know if they could get lower
