So I got an aftermarket stereo for my 2010 Subaru legacy, the harness adapter it came with is a 14 pin, and the one that's already on the car looks like a 16 pin. I'm trying to figure out what the best way to wire in the new head unit would be. Do I just cut the wires and try to connect them to the right ones? or is there some kind of adapter I can get? Because I haven't been able to find anything online. Pics attached, please help if you can

So the smaller harness is the one that was already in there? It looks like an aftermarket harness so old radio is not oem? By the looks of it, it seems to be color coded for an afternarket install, so just connect corresponding wires and let us know what the two extra colors are.
Yes that's correct. I believe an aftermarket stereo was put in by the previous owner, it was an alpine stereo and the bluetooth stopped working which is why I am replacing it. Most of the colors match up except there is a yellow/blue wire, a beige/black (not white black, that goes to the speakers), a blue/white wire, and a green/white wire

yellow/blue wire, a beige/black (not white black, that goes to the speakers), a blue/white wire, and a green/white wire
Blue/White=amp remote, Green/White=left rear speaker negative, Yellow/Blue=emergency brake, Beige/Black I believe is actually Orange/Black which Alpine uses as reverse wire for the reverse camera activate.

Agreed with this here. Since you have the unit pulled out of the car/dash...test it at your car battery directly for operation. very simple to do...

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M
