Health guru's. Need healthy snack options

I spend about 300 a month on groceries, and I tend to just walk down all the isles and pick up stuff as I go...which tends too not be the best healthiest decisions.

For example tonight, I was searching for a snack, dodging things like peanut butter sandwiches ( I am going to start buying organic natural peanut butter), home-made nachos, left overs from dinner (meatballs and rice with tomato sauce).

And I ended up with some Organic tortilla chips (no cholesterol, .5g saturated fat per serving) and salsa.

So I'm thinking I need some suggestions on delicious healthy snacks or meals, and the ingredients for them, so I can start making a list, and pick up the necessities at the grocery store.

 
Keep a bunch of fruit around the house. Apples, oranges, bananas, etc. One of my favorite snacks is cut up bell peppers with homemade hummus. Oat meal is also a good snack or breakfast that will keep you from being hungry. Just avoid the kind high in sugar.

 
I've been eating high protein low card low fat lately. South beach bars the peanut butter ones are really good. Ham or turkey or jerky, I've been on this "diet" for about a week and a half and i have so much energy now i have to constantly be doing something. Just snack every 2 hours or so and have 1 major meal a day. I like it, its helping me a lot since my metabolism is so poor. Exercise is #1 if your looking to lose weight though. Good stuff.

I go to the gym 2 times a day also, so thats not a problem. I hit the bicycle for 30 minutes before every workout.

I'll put the fiber1 bars on the list, also will look at some south beach bars. I am half middle eastern so Hummus I loooooove but I eat it with pita bread and I think eating alot of bread is really bad right?? and south beach you can't have any bread or what? What's a good subsitute bread liek whole grain or what?

 
oh ya and also what foods are appetite supressors. I am stacking up on fruit for sure...but you know how fruit can get old really easy.

I'm thinking about going to GNC and picking up some appetite suppressor pills, anyone have any experience with those?? I think that will help with my un healthy snacking/eating habbits.

Also I will be picking up "Conjugated Linoleic Acid" or CLA. Anyone have experience with that?

How about sandwiches? ham or turkey sandwiches? I can eat alot of sandwiches lol...
If you want to keep sandwiches in your diet stick with whole grain. Its way better then white bread and even better then whole wheat. I like sliced chicken breast for lunch meat. Its lean and good in protein. If you want to keep carbs down, try eating open face sandwiches.

best appetite suppressors are foods that take a long time to digest. Oatmeal is my favorite. Quaker State has a good Weight Control oatmeal that's pretty tasty.
