Yeah, it's definitely not a bad rule of thumb. It really just comes down to noticing little things that the average person wouldn't notice(like the group delay and lack of transient response with the TC), and if you really feel like making a new box to fix it.

which is the issue. i should of mentioned ive almost strictly used spl-ish style subs (save the 1st and 2nd gen mags ive had).

well the user BuddyCrist or whoever said his was in a 5.75 tuned to 38 htz and said his got loud.... as long as it gets louder than my dd 9515 at 4.5 tuned to 40hz thats all im worried bout

ive heard people on termpro saying they're scored higher with 9515's as well as others who go the other direction. probably wont be a noticible difference to the ear assuming same power.

hdc318, aq2200, 5.75 at 38. I dug it, sub wasn't broke in but still got loud and decently low. I'm sure after the suspension broke in some it'd be even better. I'm not a fan of retarded lows though, I listen to mostly rock and a little rap.

I wonder how the lows sound in that box! my old box slammed the lows tunedto 35hz and now that im at 40hz its louder at different freqs and still get low but not as low as it use to..( im in spl for the summer i dont care ill build a box tuned to 32hz for the winter..lol)
