Having your stuff stolen

Insurance is the biggest scam in the country period. Now I amnot condoning insurance fraud in any way, but here are three examples from my experience that just make me puke when it comes to auto insurance:

(1) - My father hasn't had a ticket or an accident of any kind in over 12 years. So, the insurance company (State Farm) says to him when his renewal came up again, and I quote; "...we will be raising the cost of your premiums by 25% due to our policy of 'timely accident and loss'....this means yourslef and/or your spouse are due for an accident or unpreventive loss due to the length of time you have been with us with no prior claims or violations" - WTF??? In other words jack your rates because you are a good driver?? SCAM!

(2) I was with Chicago Motor Club (AAA) and no violations/accidents for my wife or me in over 5 years. I was paying roughly 900 a year for full coverage on one car and medium coverage on my to/from work car. I get a renewal bill after two successful years with them saying my new policy premium is going to be 1450 a year! I called and they said its just standard that premiums rise! What a crock of sh*t!

(3) One of our biggest clients where I work is Allstate. They recently did a major update to their entire customer base, dropping over 35% of all customers and then raising premiums by over 50%. Now Allstate is reporting biggest money gains ever. Gee wonder why you freakin' crooks.

Bottom line its all a big joke and unregualted so they can do as they please. Between insurance, the IRS, and Gasoline companies its hard telling who is the biggest crook in this country?

it's only illegal if you get caught!! screw these insureance companys making you pay thousands a year. A easier way to do it, would to have someone you know steal it and have them give it back to you. now all these ppl on here are gonna get their panties in a twist. you only get caught if you can't kept your mouth shut. some ppl can't stomach it.

they're money oriented so why the **** can't i be money oriented! they scam your money so you gotta scam some of it back. The only time to set them up is if you got a crap system and noone will buy it.

This is all "chicken and egg" bullshit - do people scam insurance because they charge so much, or do they charge so much because people scam?

Who cares?

Fact is, VERY few insurance companies make money on premiums. If insurance companies had to take all the money they collect, and lock it in a safe for payouts, that well would run dry in hours. They make money from INVESTING YOUR MONEY. They take the billions they rake in and use it as capital for all kinds of investments.

That is the ONLY way they make money. Nearly every insurance company has a net LOSS on premiums - they pay out more than they take in.

So guess what? Stock market tanked, your rates go up! AND - ALL THE FRAUD CAUSES BILLIONS IN LOSSES TO THEM. And they pass it on to you and me.

So go ahead and scam all you want. You'll wind up paying ten times that amount over the course of your lifetime in increased premiums because of your actions and everyone else who does the same thing.

And BTW - when you make a claim, your rates increase. So if the insurance company is going to give you $1000 for your "stolen" system, then raises your rates a few hundred bucks, guess what - in a few years time, YOU LOSE ANYWAY. You get yout system now, and wind up paying for it over and over again.

Just BUY what you want. And if you can't afford it, SAVE FOR IT. Forget the angles and be a decent person, not a scumbag.

BTW - for all those that were wondering, I have NOT had a change of heart. The only reason I asked what insurance company this guy used earlier was so that if he bragged about his little scam, I could "anonymously" call them and tell them they got ripped off by yet one more moron.

Grow up dude. Go work for what you want.

So when the stock market climbs back where are the huge savings at? Come on that is the bigest bunch of bs I have ever heard. They are crooks always will be, **** your money dry and then drop you if someone else runs into you., and raise your premiums to the max, well if they are not making money on premiums why raise them? Allstate is the perfect example, raise their rates tremendously, now they are posting record gains, while the ceo's and top brass are all running around making millions.

Rates increase some because of that, but still your rates should not flux more than the current cost of living % if you do nothing wrong. Face it they are scammers too. I mean I agree what he is saying is stupid, but I dont have any love for them co[ksuckers either.

Trust me - they do NOT "make" money of premiums. Go talk to anyone who knows the deal with insurance companies.

But don't mistake this for love of them - I hate them with a passion. And consider this - I have an "average" driving record. A few tickets, and accident or two - same with my wife. Nothing in the past several years, and there's not much on my insurance record anymore (they go back 40 months to determine rates). And I'm almost 30, she's nearly 27, so age plays no role.

The cost for insuring our vehicles (1998 Jeep Cheorkee, and 2002 Mazda Protege): $4000 a year. Yes, that's right - a four and three zeros. My rates just went up over $400 this past term alone - completely negated the 10% defensive driving course discount here in NY. They claim "yes, all our New York rates increased." Thanks a lot. We are second only to New Jersey in cost of insurance, and many comapines have stopped doing business in NY and NJ altogether - the reason? FRAUD. It has run rampant and unchecked, and companies cannot make a profit anyore.

Don't think I'm on the side of insurance companies - but if people weren't such scumbags, we'd all do a lot better. And I can't have too much sympathy for other people's rate increases, when it costs me almost $11 a DAY just to INSURE my cars. The PAYMENTS on BOTH cars $500 a month, and I pay almost $350/month to insure them. Don't talk to me about skyrocketing rates.

Why not shop around? Someone has to be cheaper.

Only if he actually tells someone to steal the shit.

Nothing this guy is planning to do is fraud, or will cause everyone else's rates to jump up. It's common sense people. Insurance companies don't release claim informaiton because they don't want everyone to know if they had a good or bad year. The just hike the rates because people expect it. Nothing, and I mean nothing, could get stolen in an entire year for a company, and they would still increase their rates because we don't know better.

I say more power to you if you can make sure to keep it legal.

Hell maybe someone will decide to steal your entire car. Then you can wait for the investigation and all the other BullShTT that you will be put through just to get a payment.

All for what a new system? Not even worth it.

Ok so everybody knows i am not a scammer and am not trying to scam the insurance company it was just and idea and a little bit of humor. Well the other day when i was up their I was talking to some people and were leaning on my car then i went to play basketball. Thern all these people who are not the most honest or trust worthy people were still chillin around my car and made me feel a little bit scared. So I was wondering what kind of insurance policy i need to cover my car audio incase it gets stolen. I do not live in the nicest part of town right now and will be moving shortly but I am still worried because i am redoing my whole setup shortly and it will be costing me all the money i have and then some. I know that with some car alarm companies they have that protection for up to 2500 dollars so how dependable is that. And do i need special thehft insurance or anything like that because i think all i have now is liability but am not 100% sure.

And BTW i am sorry if that this topic was so controversial but if you guys just answered the questions being stated in the original post and not post all your oppinions on me or my topic then it never would have happened. I was just wondering because i have seen a couple post on this forumn and others recently with people stating that they had their systems stolen. If i wanted your input on fraud or scamming the insurance company i would have asked.

Good of you to decide against fraud. It's not worth it anyway.

So - back to topic, I guess.

Just call your insurance company, and ask them about coverage for your audio system. Since you are planning on re-doing it soon, make sure to keep receipts for EVERYTHING, down to the wiring.

And don't take a phone rep's word for it when it comes to coverage. Whatever they claim IS covered, ask them to send it to you IN WRITING.

You may have to pay additional premiums to cover an elaborate aftermarket audio system. I would expect it's not that much - maybe another $50 a year or something like that. Just a guess.

But whatever coverage you have, or decide to purchase, make sure you have written documentation of what is covered, and proof of purchase for any items you buy.
