Has Kenwood ever made a good sub?

My guess is Kenwood will be the next company to die...

They're not going anywhere. Sony hasn't made much of anything but crap in the car audio realm for years and they're still around. Just like Sony, Kenwood isn't just car audio.

Agreed, My brother used to run a shop that sold Kenwood and Sony along with JBL and some other gear. The kenwoods and sony's stuff was never any good other than the decks. I'm yet to see a SPL or SQ car that has been built up and won anything that has kenwood gear in it. All their cars i've seen they just pack with as many speakers and subs as possible and people think they are great cause its loud.

They'll still sell at the cheap auto shops and stuff though so i dont think they'll go bust

I have always sworn by Pioneer and older Alpine in the past, bought a few newer Alpines and it looked like the same washed out best buy demographic crap that pioneer is now producing. You can get the X794 for like 120-140 new and it has a 24bit D/AC, 4v preouts, usb,aux,cd,ipod, 5 band eq, time alignment, a big screen, IC off, and a slick display. I grabbed one and I am pretty happy with it. stupid cheap too.

Mel (RXZILLA) had six of those(I want to say 10"ers) walled in his Durango and was streetbeating around a 155-156 IIRC. He works/worked for Kenwood so I'm sure he got some sort of hookup on them.

orly? would be cool 2 c pics. they where **** sexy subs to lol. cant remeber the size of the coil thou. iirc it was some odball size haha like 2.75" or sumthing lol. and they could take easily 1500-2k all day in the right box.

I swear by kenwood decks... wont run anything else. My dad had a cd player that was made in like 95-97 in his F-150. He sold the truck early this year, the deck still worked perfect and sounded great.

Ive never heard anything but mediocrity out of their subs and speakers.

More like "rated" at 750wrms lol. Newer Kenwood subs have a very hard time taking rated power...

Ive heard a few of those in some SQ installs and they are pretty decent stuff.

They had those old school Kenwood Diamond Plate subs.
