i have no idea what specs this thing is, or anything, but it does look very similar to my RE 10" SE, cone is a **** cone, but a little flatter\wider boobie. :boobies:

i havnt looked at the inside for a long time.

heres a picture.

thanks guys, again its a 10"er

lol doesnt look too bad, they do look like SPL subs though with the big *** surround.... hmmm i wonder if we got a "new RE / Brahma" comin around here. could this be a ground zero takeover? will RE and Brahama hold strong? stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of.............. "dam that was unnecessary"

Ground Zero unfortunately is old news. However, they were one of the first to bring the long excursion subwoofer into the mainstream. The Ground Zero Nuclear was one of the baddest subs around a few years ago. The Plutonium line looked even better, but so far as I know never made it to the market, at least not in the U.S.

There was some sort of controversy surrounding GZ a couple years ago and iirc Ground Zero America went out of business. The original GZ (somewhere in Europe/Asia) may still be manufacturing however, Im not sure about how it all went down exactly.

edit: I believe that pic is of the GZ Nuke, but Im not sure. They were a colossal sub for their day, with long excursion (for its time.. something like 20mm iirc) and 1000+ power handling (very rare a few years ago). They got loud, but today's XXX's, Brahma's W7's etc get louder and would stomp them in SQ.

well. what do you think of this sub? i got it for $30 in a sealed box, id say ~.4 cubes after displacement.

basically its mint.

i wish i knew some specs for it. i was powering it with ~500w @4 ohm. i think its SVC4... i havnt openend it in ages, so i have no idea.

I have a Ground Zero sub from their USA days...a Radioactive 10 in mint condition. A former employee is digging up the specs for me. Yours looks similar to mine (but I think yours is a higher model...double stacked magnets right????....mine is single with smaller dustcap) but sounds great.

Yeah so that's a hell of a deal. Mine was the lower end model and I paid $150 new. Middle line went for $250 for the 10 (which I think yours is) and the Nuclear was around $400 (I think that was triple stacked magnets so you can check).

Anyways, they were one of the first with the high excursion fat surround. They started making the drivers for their home audio subwoofers. I believe they were bought out by an overseas compay cause their logo is the same as the old company from the California days.

so does anyone know any specs for this? i cant find anythig on the net for a 10" whatever model this is?

BTW, every post that I have been seeing is that the GZ Nukes are the American version of GZ and those subs were great. The other American versions weren't all that great.

Many have said the German models are unbelievable and the GZ Plutonium is the largest and baddest MOFO around. Of course, this was taken from a post from 2002 I believe. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

oh, and check this out.....

hmm. well i cant really say- i think mine had a 4 spoke basket, im not quite sure if its black or whatever. its been years.

i know the magnet was really big. has to be around the size of my RE-SE... its got a rubber thing around it, i remember that much (as in that picture you posted) and i dont know if its double stack, or triple stack.

ill whip it out tonite (maybe with my RE SE to compare) and post some pics.

i just got an email back from that website you directed me to, james.

Hello!
This woofer is made by a company named ASM in the USA, which went bankrupt a few years ago. Since they produced several different version of this woofer, it's not possible to get you TSP for this woofer - the only chance to get the TSP is to measure the woofer.

I'm sorry for not being able to help you.

Best regards,

Peter Unterharnscheidt

so this was the american one that did go out of buisness. were the american ones better or worse?

i hope i can find some specs on this. how does a person go about finding the correct specifications for a subwoofer without a spec sheet?

sigh. nothing on google about "asm" having to do with subwoofers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/titanic.gif.8089b7552c370bcc138aa121756d0c0b.gif

dang that sucks.

I guess you could always look at the sub to see if any model numbers are on it and then do a search.

let us know what the model number is.

ill find out ~6pm EST when i get home from work and rip it open =)

i might put him in my 1.2cuft box for a few minutes and see how hard he can hit with ~800w.

MUAAHHAHAHAH! (ill keep the volume low, dont worry)
