Has anyone ever had this problem with Eclipse?

I have a 5444, and my volume button is all screwed up. When i lower the volume, it will actually make it louder before it starts making it lower. A few times i had to lower the volume and it got up to almost max volume before it started getting lower, very bad problem, because i don't want it to blow my components. Luckily united radio is being great and taking my head unit to fix even after the warranty is up, but im just curious if anyone has had this problem? Also, i have no idea how the hell you can even fix something like this, so i bet im gonna wind up having to get a new head unit

My brother had that issue with his cd3434, but it was handled under warranty.

i had that with one eclipse deck. although it wouldnt do it that bad, it jumped 3-4 settings higher before it turned down.

My CD-7000 is going back for volume/preout issues. . .sad, sad, sad.

of course when i pulled the unit and checked my serial # i have one of the first 100 made so I'm hoping the kinks are worked out now for others.
