My friend bought a dell computer from some woman. It has XP Home, and when you turn it on, it goes to the welcome screen and only one account named "prettymary" shows up. It is pw protected. I tried doing the ctrl alt del thing and logining in as the administrator, but it is pw protected too.

Anyone know how to hack the pw from a user account?

Im afraid to reformat and install windows, because I do not have the same version, and If I installed it on her computer it wouldn't really be legit. She don't have the driver cd's and stuff, so I am afraid it will uninstall some of the drivers, and I will not be able to get them that easy.

dont reinstall it, simply search around. there is a program you can load ona disk that will wipe the password clean and let you reset it with almost no hassle.

OR... You could open up the case and remove a small green pin (sometimes black), and it will disable all passwords.
