have you checked to see how available ammo is for the carbine? IMO id just buck up and get a Garand or a German Kar 98K. Russian Mosin Nagants can be found pretty cheap.

Oh and if your trying to hit a far away target without using the whole clip, dont get an AK

lol yea ammo for .30 carbine is only really available in surplus, which is fine cause im only using it for plinking and messing around.

im definitley picking up a garand after the carbine, they go for 800 ish by me.

and definitly getting a kar 98k. at the place over here they are like 300 lol.

i hate ak-47's.

would rather get a FN-FAL or a SKS or a SA-58 that shoots the same round and is more comfortable, nicer looking, and more accurate.

get a ruger 10/22 and trick that shit out with the tapco stock , heavy barrel and all that shit. ive spent some time looking at rimfirecentral.com (i think thats it) and people have some badass 10/22s. dirt cheap to shoot .22lr all day and can be **** accurate..

that was the next thing i was going to look at.

i already got a 22lr merlin bolt action that is pretty fun.

i was planning on getting a garand after the m1a1, the carbine you can shoot longer, cause the garand is about 10 pounds heavier and has a larger shell, im sure you know.
i wish i could find a gewehr 43, but nearly impossible.

the local gun shop was also selling a SA-58 for 650, which is crazy cause it is so new.

it is the new version of the fn-fal pretty much.

i also want one of those.

My SKS's are my favorite plinkers. However i do wanna get a Ruger 10/22 to trick out.

I own a Yugo SKS,

a Norinco SKS,

an M1 Carbine [Forget the make, But its got a stainless steel barrel, Match sights, and a few other "goodie's" on it.]

And a DPMS AR-10.

SKS is the cheapest, has the most "After market", And the ammo isnt near as bad as .308 or 30. However i could put a better grouping on paper with the .308
