gun control?

also how expensive do you people think metal detectors are? they have them at freaking movie theaters, plus the detroit schools have had them for about 30 years so i don't think a 1 time investment on metal detectors is going to cripple a school district or university.

Some of you people are missing the point. Allowing CCW's on campus doesn't mean that they are going to arm every kid on campus, it means that anyone that is a student and has a permit to carry, would be able to carry on campus. It means that the people that are already able to carry everywhere else, would be able to do it on campus too.

You are afraid of these people that have permits to carry and think that they are too immature to responsibly carry, but the majority of people that get permits are very responsible and law abiding people. I know of a few people that go to my school with permits and I would not feel unsafe if they were carrying.

so if you are roomates with this cho, what's gonna stop him from somehow getting your gun? you are mixed in with too many off kilter people to be carrying a gun.

my question is, why when the one teacher of cho suggested he needed counseling, why wasn't he given a mental examination and if he refused or failed, kicked out of school?

You cannot just go to a gunshow in any state and just buy a gun. The statements from the press, to our mighty iceteebone, just show their ignorance on the subject. You are required to go through a background check. However two people from the same state can sell a firearm to each other. Make no mistake, gun controll does not stop things like this from happening. Guns are nothing but a tool. If anything ,gun free zones like this allow a shooter to be basically free do kill as many people as they want. This is so irionic, my friend who has a concealed weapons permit, as I have as well, just had to shoot somebody last friday night. Unbelievable, in this small town in N.H. One month after getting his license to carry, he was in a bar and heard two shots, running upstairs he saw a jamacian gangbanger with a gun to the bouncers head, he was going to kill him for throwing him out, cause he was drunk. My friend shot him twice, he dropped the gun and ran off, police found him by following the blood trail. The bouncer was a friend of my buddie. You can look it up at manchesterunionleader.com. Criminals break laws, so more gun laws only hurt law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. Liberals dont want to even inforce the laws already on the books, usually giving light sentances for criminals, the guy my buddie shot has a record and sould have been in prision, not violating his parole and attempting to kill innocent people, never mind being able to lawfully have a gun . Think about it.

ok so instead of using a sarcastic tone with me, why don't you read what i posted. i never said you could walk into a gunshow and just buy a gun. it was some south carolina dude who said that. if you read what i've said this whole thread, you will see i have never once said guns should be banned from people. if you have a properly organized and running campus security, a shooter won't be able to kill as many people as they want.

I'm not goint to read the thread, I just want to say this...as it what I say to EVERY person that supports gun control.

I DARE a gun-control supporter, to put out in their yard, a large 4'x8' sign that declares that they do not support the ownership of guns. DO IT. You wont last a couple days till your shit is jacked...

In my situation, that wouldn't be a problem. I don't have a roommate. Plus, my campus is already full of guns. My floor alone almost averages a gun per person.

Can schools kick out students that they think are crazy? What would stop that student from coming right back on to campus if they wanted to shoot the place up?

you brought up some good points. i was amazed how i was able to just walk onto the campus of the university of michigan. any stranger can just walk in and open fire. also your situation vs. the hundreds of thousands of students in the US is a lot different

That sign should also say that they have absolutly no firearms in the house so the people that break in know that they won't have anyone fighting back.

True, so I should be able to carry if I choose too.

i'm not advocating banning guns. i thought i made this clear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif if you are a responsible person you should be able to have a gun, and there should be a process to determine you are responsible.
I only have time to quote this one but there were more. There already is a process which does this. Its the nics check. If your not a fellon, or mental or havent beaten a female, you get the gun. Criminals dont go throuh this check. You stated it shouldnt be as easy to buy a gun as a bag of chips. It isnt. Ive bought hundreds. It can be a pain in the ***. Ive gotten delayed numerous times. After reading in more detail, it does seem that your postings arent as bad as I originally thought. I appoligize. This is a sore subject for me, being a freedom loving american, gun enthusiast.
