greater sub movement: ported vs. sealed

In terms of excursion, which enclosure will make the sub move more?

I just took my RE SE 12" sub from a 2.5cuft ported enclosure @32hz and put it in a 1.0cuft sealed box and it fricken moves now like I've never seen before. Definately miss the ported box...louder and cleaner in bass at the tuned frequency. I will definately hold on to it, but for right now space is very important in my coupe...

ported should have more excursion.. esp under tuning freqency cause the box cant control the cone as much

but poorly designed boxes can affect both.. a sealed box that is way too big vs a too small ported box.. i beleive the opposite would be true.. but not want you want usually

he said under tuning..which would be true because the sub would unload and lose cone control due to the pressure loss occuring from being under tuning. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

We all know subs unload under tuning freq, if your subsonic is on and the box is designed properly ported will generally reduce sub excursion.
