GPS to Car Alarm AUX Button

My main objective is to press the AUX button on the 2-way pager and have my GPS turn on or start loading up. (Garmin Nuvi 250)

I have a Viper Model 771XV. (2-way pager)

Whats the easiest way of doing this?

Right now I "hard wired" the GPS to the back of the deck by getting a cigarette lighter extension and cutting off one of the ends and splicing the power/ground, then I used the power/ground to the Ignition and Ground wires. So I wouldn't have to mess with the factory wiring. (You know what they do with GPS's, wrap the ground around the power or whatever...)

Would it be possible so that if I press the AUX button, my GPS will turn on?

And still have it turn on when I put the key in to accessory position?

Thanks!

Probably have to wire the AUX wire to a relay with a costant 12v.So when you trigger the AUX it closes they relay and powers they GPS.
I see.

I understand and all, but I've never worked with relays.

How much are they and where do I get them?

So the relay is pretty much just like a switch that is electrically triggered?

Just like for the rear defrost that I fixed on my car.
