Gotta love the UAW

They don't have ca.com to post on while they are on the clock. They also don't have 59 minute rules, and you are clearly ignorant of what goes on in a factory. When your line breaks down or you run out of parts, there isn't work for you to do.
If thats in any way directed to me........ well you're right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Next time your area gets hit with a hurricane and the government botches up any rescue plans, you can ask the Asian companies for donations and vehicles. That is my way of telling you to **** yourself.

First of all, not all unions are equal. The UAW that has made many concessions in the past 5 years and is heading in the right direction, but it is to little too late. These steps were needed 15 years ago to prevent the state of the Big 3 today. The legacy costs are the real reason why GM and Chrysler will never make it to 2010. That is when they can buy out of their legacy costs and take them off the balance sheet. Too bad that without some sort of bridge loan from the US govt, they will never make it to that date. With these legacy costs on the balance sheet, they will never be able to get conventional funding from the banking industry. I think that Cerberus made a huge error when buying into Chrysler. They will never regain that value paid. Chrysler is worth about $500M today as a whole. They paid $7.4B for their stake just a year and a half ago. So today their 80% of Chrysler is valued at $400M, or roughly $7B less.

Ford wouldn't survive. If GM goes out, their suppliers lose huge contracts, and those same suppliers have contracts with Ford. Those suppliers go out of business and totally screw up Ford's supplier network.
That is what Ford wants us to think, but I doubt that would be the net effect. If GM and Chrysler go down, Ford will have to pick up some of the slack for the vehicles that GM and Chrysler will no longer sell, I would guess that Ford will keep them plenty busy since it will now be selling more cars than before.

Don't worry, the tax payer will pick up the tab for

all those union contracts. It's all in the works. If congress

can't get it Done, Bernackie will do it.

Good, in an emergency you want to make dam sure the vehicle will actually work. No need to send a domestic vehicle here, that would be adding insult to injury.

I have no problem with the tax payers paying more for bankruptcy procedures and paying for my family's pensions and health care. Without the Big 3, I would qualify for government assistance and will knock up some broad and draw Medicaid, WIC, food stamps and any other assistance.
Also the UAW said they were looking to cut wages in the next contract in 2011 so your thread is misleading //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

And labor cost only about 10% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
My thread is not misleading. In order to get this money the government wants it cut NOW not in 2011.

I know labor is only 10% that isn't what this thread is about. It is about them just flat out refusing the request of the gov to get this money the big 3 need.

Your comprehension is failing today.

The Big 3 need restructured BEFORE they take loans. It costs almost 1800 dollars more to make a GM car than a Honda and those costs have nothing to do with actual manufacturing costs. Can't let them go under but we can't let them go on as they are...only one out of the big 3 who would survive without the bail out is Ford..and in their statements it almost sounds like they are more against the bail out now so they don't have to compete with the other 2:laugh:
this is without a doubt. They have stated they are willing to make drastic changes. Unfortunately this auto "czar" is a shitty idea.

Changes and reductions need to be made from top all the way to the bottom. There is no arguing that. This money will be wasted if it isn't company wide reform.

I still hate UAW tee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

The money will absolutely be wasted if there is not some sort of plan to address the underlying problems. There have been experts discussing these problems and predicting this situation for years. Not one of them concludes that failure can be prevented with an extra $25 billion.

And I agree, a car czar is stupid. Everytime we have a major problem we think we can solve it by giving them the title of a Russian imperialist. Hell, that did not even help the Russians.
