the problem has less to do with the hourly wage and more to do with benefits and retired employees.

once the big 3 dumps these "problems" to their bottom line, we the tax payers will pick up the tab for the lost benefits... double edged sword.

They have dumped a lot of retiree benefits over the past 2 years. My grandmother now has shitty health care she pays herself with a small reimbursement from GM. This step is just as necessary.

Some unions are beneficial to the worker, and some are just greedy a**holes. Why are they paid 20 plus an hour? It makes no sense. I could understand maybe that much with years under their belt, but ford here starts off at like 17 an hour. UAW seem like the jerks to me, why risk thousands of jobs for pride? This is why America is losing jobs because people want the money first without the time, like there is no such thing as experience. This would be horrible for the economy, and even worser for America as an whole. The American Automakers are one of the few big blue collar jobs we have left. F*cking UAW.

well the UAW does primarily control the workforce for the auto makers, so they do have say in whats what. Even if they're a monkey band of fvcktards.

Seem to me thats what they are, their contract is suppose to expire around 2011 though. I watched a story on CNN not to long ago on what Automaker plant closings do to towns. Sh*ts crazy

i live in wichita ks, we have hawker beechcraft, cessna, boeing, spirit, bombadier learjet... my dad is upper management at learjet. you're telling me all of those companies are going to go overseas and i'll be SOL for a job?

Do you guys really think $20/hr is that much money? I think the unions **** and they need to make some changes but $20 bucks and hour does not seem like shit to me that's what 40k a year?

Don't know the whole story, don't really care I just saw $20/hr thrown around a lot which is what I would consider the bare minimum to get by here.

i dont see all of those companies going broke anytime in the next century. especially boeing, we build 3 737's every 2 days. that right there is massive revenue and isnt counting the 47s, 67s, 77s, 87s...
