Got Wood? New Door Pod Pics

I was sick of the butchered look of my door panels. Had a hole from my old JBL comps, one poly mid stuffed behind the stock grill, once shoehorned into the map pocket, etc... Looked like total ***.

Here's the befor pic I post last week when I did some carpet work to clean it up a little. But that didn't last long. My car has the fake woodgrain around the stereo, AC controls, etc... and I don't mind it, so I decided to build something off of that look.

I didn't bother doing a build log as I figured everyone on here will hate it, so I've only got a few finished pics.

Took a decent amount of fabrication/customizing to get it tight against the contours of the door panel, but the effor was worth it.

Built it all with stuff I had laying around, so $0 investment and about 20 hours time all together. Driver's side "pod" will go on tomorrow when the poly is dry.

I made PVC angle mounts for the tweeters but they weren't angled enough now that the surface is flat compared to the stock pane. I had painted them the same color as the AA logo, but used these carpeted ones since they put the tweeters more on axis.

I'm still thinking of a better mount set up to get them right on axis again as the XT25's really need it.

I'm diggin that look.

Would like to see a bunch of coats of poly on those to get that nice bartop look. I hope youre not using spray poly.
