A bigger woofer doesn't always mean it is going to be louder than something smaller. You have to take into consideration what type of amp you can afford to put on the woofer, and if you can fit the recommended box in your vehicle. I know a friend that did a 10" Solobaric L7 in a Honda CRX in a 1.75 cu ft. vented box and it did a 139.3 It was a daily driver and you could listen to music through it. Not a burp vehicle. Another one of my friends has 2 JL W7 10's and he did a 144 with them in a nissan hardbody truck. It all depends on your box and your amp. If you aren't going to give your subs 75-100% or RMS power.....there really isn't a point in doing it. It is better to have more than enough power than too little. When you have too little power most people turn the gain up on the amp and crank the system louder. This causes more distortion and speakers don't like that. Anyway...just my 2 cents.
