got my SX18 metered...i cried

One question about the mic...was it a stand alone unit, or was it hooked up to a machine, or a computer...Where was your Score Displayed? on a Comp Screen, or a LED display or what.
The mic looked like any other mic i had seen and had a long cord comming from it and went to like a headphone jack into this cb radio looking thing with an led screen.

when the sub was off it would say "Low" across the display and it would hit and go to w/e number. Best description I can give, I didnt get to look at it.

thats an Audio Control mic...be it a AC 160, or 180
Yeah! Thats it, I remember him saying that it was an Audio Control. I asked him when I walked in what kind of mics they were and I remember now.

So is that a good mic or what

8 cube box. 100-150 sq.in. for port, I prefer a lower tuning. More power would help some.

To put it in perspective, I have 2 18's sealed in my trunk. 8. something cube box. 2500 watts for the pair. I did a 142 even, on the new TL, to music.

Just use this experience as motivation to fix your issues. Come back the next time and show a good improvement.

YOU CAN DO IT!

OH, and get on a good mic next time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

took me alittle before i learned this.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif It's just simple math and rules of electronics.. You don't get something for nothing, no matter what a manufacturer stamps on their product.. Shit, some Pyramid and other equal quality brands say their amps do 2000w with 2x25A fuses.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Stick to the x10 multiplier and you'll be in the ballpark of what the amp will really do..

/schooling

Ya, I was gonna say that it sounded like an AC mic.. And they almost ALWAYS read higher than a TL sensor, so continue crying.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Sweeeet....I was hesistant to post a thread about this b/c I saw a guy post about getting his MT 10 metered and he did 140 something and pretty much everyone broke balls on him.

Anyways, more power I can do...just got to get my amp fixed. To do that I need someone who can fix it, anyone know someone who can? The amp has been at a local shop here for over a year now and buddy of mine workin on it said he got it play now its just really distorted. It wasnt working at all before.

8cube box 100-120sq in of port at 36hz or

6.5cube 100-120sq in of port at 36hz

not sure what the size of the box justifies, I just know a sub will lose power handling if its in a bigger box.

Thats what I was hopin for, or atleast expecting.

I had heard of people hitting high numbers with these subs, and theres a dude on here that hits 150+, says somewhere in his sig...

I didnt want to say it in my post...but he is right. Most of the time the ACs read higher than the TL so in all actuality you are lower than the score you poste. Also how did you meter Outlaw (Door open mic in the kick) Legal (door closed mic on the dash) sorry to bust your bubble.

Are you planning on overpowering it?

I will put more than RMS to it for sure, wont go over peak.

If I can get this Hifonics 1800D working Ill put that on there. If not, who knows.

He metered with door closed and mic at the dash.

edit

no worries on bustin my bubble, id rather you bust it and give me the facts

I personally have always oversized my boxes, and I'm not exactly easy on my woofers, but I know what a speaker sounds like when it isn't happy.
