got my SX18 metered...i cried

Seriously though, you are probably only getting about 500w to the sub with that amp.

Yes yes yes, it is all my fault:crying: I wanna see 1.2k on that thing before you say it's not loud!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I'm guessing that last part "i cried" in ur title thread, helped alot in bringing attention. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Ok... heres your checklist...

1. get the amp fixed

2. new wiring (voltage drop is probably killing you right now)

3. new box w/ big flared port, rounded inside corners, resin, and bracing. a 35hz tune would be fine for a daily driver.

Well I did....

Nah..I was just so excited and so hype about it thinkin yeah all right going to hit 140 or more deebeez and then it farts a 137...oh well...its all a learning experience to me anyways.

And dont worry ghost, if I can find someone who can fix my 1800D, then its going on it.

My bet is its the Mic. I have 2 SS RL-p's 12s in a sealed box behind the seat of my reg. cab, each sub gets about ~600 watts and Im putting up a 141.7, and probably a little higher now, changed a few things around, and bolted the box down (use to move like crazy) My bet is the mic, even though the TL is suposed to be the Stingyest mic (meaning harder to get a high score) There are rare cases, and especially this one, with the condition of the mic as described in your Original post.

Your best bet is going to be find a place locally with a TL and get on that meter, before you change anything. You want to have accurate data before you go changing things around.

Heres the box....

the port area is over 90 or right at 90. I did some searching and most people said that with an SX18, port area should be 90 or more.

True, the mic was taped up with electrical tape and looked to be a good 10 years old and he bought it out in this little carrying case that looked old as ****. Anyways, even if it is the mic I still have some work to do regardless.

The information the dude told you about the fuse rating IS correct.. 40A fuse = roughly 480w (40Ax12V=480w).. He was just using the x10 multiplier to keep it simple.. Kenwood is famous for rating/marketing their amps based on PEAK power, which is 1000w in this case, hence the 1000D you are referring to, which I guess is somewhere in the model number.. I did a quick search for Kenwood 1000D and couldn't find anything..

When in doubt, check the fuse rating on the amp, for it does not lie..

then move up to 120 inches^2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

in all seriousness though, more port will almost always be better... although the larger it gets the lower the frequency where comb filtering (i can't remember if thats the exact term) occurs.
