hey guys this might sound like a noob question but here it goes first what frys a coil heat or clipping or the heat from clipping and if it is heat do to the thermal limits of the coil why wouldnt the tinsils or the speaker wire fry b4 the coil ..to me it seems like if ur sending enough power to make the coil fry the speaker wire should fry first or is there just not enough cooling in the coil area??...just poped into my head today and thought id get an answer

The heat caused by clipping buns them up, also sometimes the tensils do go first, because the tensils are kinda out in the open they cool better tha a coil in the gap, thats why they dont go as often as a coil but ive seen my share of burned tensils

Heat kills speakers

excess amperage causes heat.

clipping is a square wave.

Square wave can exhibit 200% more heat as it doesnt have the gradual slope into and out of the peak, its just a solid peak

ok i knew all that but even so why wouldnt the speaker wire fry or tinsels fry first..just better heat disipation??sorry not being a noob or ne thing i know how to install and properly set gains n all just curious

The speaker wire and tinsel wire are much thicker than the voicecoil wire and have a lower resistance per foot. More resistance means more heat built up in a smaller space. Coil a lot of that wire in the same place and the heat builds up even more.
ding ding. x2
