my friend is being misguided to buy a jl w0 and im trying to direct him to something better but im just not too knowledgable on sq subs he has a real low budget willing to spend at most 150 on a sub he wants mainly sq any suggestions??

Guy at work has a Dcon 12. It's rated very conservatively at 300 rms and it sounds pretty good imo. Can be had for 125 bucks.

When u say he wants SQ, do u mean a sub that has a fairly easily attainable flat response and transparency with low distortion?? or... a sub that sounds nice, gets low, and will get loud if you want it to? (IMO, thats more of an SQL sub)

I'd go Dayton in either case but, if you're more for SQL, there are a bit more options to look into.
