Current setup in 2008 Ram quad cab:
Oem REC NAV head unit
6x9 Nakamichi coaxials front doors
5.25 Memphis coaxials rear doors
Center seat 0.85 cu ft sealed down-firing box (Boyd Audio)
Infini 5761a 6ch amp with ~50 watts to each spk, 250-280w rms bridged 4ohm to sub
Now onto my subwoofer question...
Have been running a Kicker S10c (old school round solo baric) for a few years and well over 100k miles of pretty constant use...sub always sounded fantastic and hit low notes very well, even though box was larger than specced (.85 cu ft vs recommended-by-kicker .66 cu ft). Finally blew the sub a couple weeks ago and started looking for a replacement...
Local stereo shop recommended Memphis PR 15-10s4v2...had it installed under the agreement that if I didn't like it, could exchange for a different sub. At first noticed that the suspension was ALOT stiffer than my old Kicker ever was. Sound quality & volume are okay at mid bass frequencies, but this thing doesn't get anywhere near as low as the Kicker Solo. So far sub has been run at low-to-medium volume for a couple hours, and I've been hoping that it will "break in" but no such luck so far.
Should I continue to run this thing for a while and expect it to loosen up, or just dump it for another sub?
Not after the loudest woofer out there, but definitely want quality sound (for an oem HU source) and the ability to hit the lower freqs at least as well as Kicker did.
