Good rock sub for $200?

a buddy of mine is a heavy metal/ rook junkie, and he only lisens to rock and metal on his system, hes had 2 setups in the past year, 2 diamond audio 12" d9's and 2 image dynamics 12" idq's, both of those low end setups sound excellent with rock music...he currently has the idq's and they sound soo nice...if people are recommending the idmax than i would go that route, they must be better equipt for that application...

im not sure about the price of the idq's but im sure they are pretty close to the $200-$300 range...i know you can find those d9's for about $200 or cheaper online...

idqs= almost perfect SQ with less output, very less power handling

IDMAX=very good SQ with lots of output, more power handling

They sound very good ported man

By spec they are truly ported box drivers, just happen to work well in small sealed enclosures also

If you mean the idq's, Im running mine ported. SQ is awesome.

My BM sounds great with rock. Very strong mids, perfect for kick drums. You could get one with the 200 you have now, run it at 4 ohms, then buy another when you get the cash and run it at 1.

You still have a bit too much power though

I wouldnt put more than 7 or 800 on them a piece

For something at that fits in the budget, i just got done installing a PGsd12d in 2.4 cubes @ 30hz, and wow, just wow. The SQ is fantastic and its a really "fast" sub. It has to be the best kept secret in car audio. I started a thread on it, and alot of folks here are running them at 1000w+ daily. $80 a peice on Etronrics. Two with a 1omh 1400w amp would be killer. It is the end all be all bang for buck sub.
