Next ? what size sub, what vc configuration did each sub have, what enclosure, what meter ? Last question since you guys dissassembled both to see their insides what were the differences ?
you know exactly who performed the testing, else you'd have picked another name..
Inhuman 12 dual and 15 dual, the 12 was a single spider model, the 15 was originally a single spider model, but then reconed to a dual spider after it died due to a misaligned coil
(dual coiled subs use the quad windings which are seried under the dustcap)
Hc 15 dual (again, quad winding) and true dual coiled (custom for me, and you're more than welcome to call Scott, or David at RE and confirm that)
Enclosures:
the Inhuman 12" was tested out in a 3.0 cuft box, tuned to 35hz, and was running on a cadence z9000
the inhuman 15" was tested in both a 4.5 cuft, and 6.5 cuft vented box, tuned from multiple points, of 30, 35, 40, and 45hz
the HC 15 was tested in volumes ranging from 4-7.5 cuft, vented, and tuned from 30-48hz
all metering is done using a 2001 model Linear X pcrta jr, with 170 db mics..
differences? (speaking generally) the coil can be (HC has a 32mm winding, the Inhuman usually has a 45mm winding), as can the suspension (both use the same semi-cup progressive spider, just in varying amounts, or with varying amounts of "loosening"), the baskets Don uses offers direct coil cooling, as well as a color option. The actual motors are plain, off the shelf, and exact to the now older HC motors. (32 mm top-plate, 300 oz triple slug design) with a rather generous coil gap width. Everything else is basic, and common to both woofers..
bottom line in respect to performance is that the single spider Inhuman is mid- Q design, while the HC is a low Q design.
How much farther in depth would you like me to get?
btw, your insinuation at my lack of comprehension of this topic is very laughable, and if you hold any interest in Beyond Audio at any level, you'll cease your attempts at belittling me.. I can assure you I'm not one you'll enjoy messing with..
I've never to this date bashed Beyond Audio, or anyone associated with it. Stating facts, and opinions which are backed by personal testing, and testing of others, is far from a bash..
and you have a nice day..
