good alarm suggestions???

i need a 2 way paging car alarm under i dunno 250?? with the lcd and has to be good all around alarm system.

around here the guys want 439 before install for a viper 5002 i believe it was. talk about getting hosed ahahaa

I got a 2-way Autopage alarm with remote start and all that good stuff for like $100 bucks or less... but it was on sale I think?

Either way, it's working fine for me. I installed myself.

The installation can be done by yourself, you just have to read up on your car and have a lot of patience... and invest in some butt connectors (piece of metal in the middle with heat shrink on the outside).

I decided to be brave and bring in an old fashioned Soldering Iron in my car... my cat ended up knocking it off of the stand, then it landed on my elbow as I'm knee deep into my dash board, I try to get it off burning my right hand, throwing it, burning my carpet, then picking it up with my left hand and burning my left hand... it wasn't pretty.

But butt connectors are expensive, about $2 dollars a piece.

But, I'd rather pay $20 or so dollars in parts than $200+ in labor.

Don't use but connectors.soder all of your connections. If you don't crimp it right then it could come out and cause a problem. If you don't understand how to find the right wires on your ignition harness don't do it, let someone who knows what they are doing install it. Save yourself the headake

ya and with that you won't get no tech support or warrenty. if the 439 includes install that's a good price. especially since more 2 ways are with remote start which i think that has too. Audiovox's alarms have made a big come up with their alarms and usually fairly low priced. but like the other guy said. alarms take time and make sure you know exactly what your doing because you could seriously mess up the vehicle.

i was looking into getting this one and having circuit city install it for 160 bucks

anyone know another alarm out there better than that one posted for the money

i have a f150 2001 year

so should i go with the python 990 for right around 245 shipped or the viper 5002 for 210 shipped

both look like they are the same and same functions but the remote for the viper has more stuff on it which would be nice to have

but i was wondering wat will this alarm do, say if someone breaks the window will it go off, if not when they open the door from the inside or hit the unlock button from the inside after the window is broke will it go off, or does it take the vehicle being pushed alot to set the alarm off

If they bump the truck hard enough it will go off, if they break the window it CAN go off but a lot of thieves know how to do this without setting the alarm off. As soon as they open a door the alarm will go off. If for some reason you leave a door open and they have a key, when they try and start the tuck the alarm will go off.

The thing I would worry about with your truck is the rear window, is it sliding? If it is then they can get in through there and possibly not set off the alarm. You can get a magnetic switch for it though so if it opens the alarm will go off.

yea its sliding but its sealed shut with silicone cocking

so wat if i leave the keys in my ignition which i do alot because i have keyless entry and they break in and try to crank the truck it will go off and not start correct

also can an alarm be enabled while running, say if i stop at a gas station to grab a drink, and leave it running and just hit the lock button manually on the door will it alarm it or how would that work
