Going active

My Alpine Type E crappin things are wrecking my ear drums. I just ordered (2) dayton 6.5 inch mid bass drivers and (2) Vifa/Tymphany silk dome tweets. I will have to make some pods for them which is no biggy, and deaden the hell outta my doors. You guys think this will be a noticeable difference in sound quality or did I just waste a ton of money?

using one channel of my 4 channel amp for mids and the other for the tweets? Was told with the amps cross overs I should be able to tune them accordingly

I thought the new PPI BAs did not have active crossovers. I know the BKs and Phantoms do.

Type E's are Alpine's lowest line of speakers iirc, so hopefully you see a difference

simple solution, dont use it. PS, your amp dont have proper crossovers to do so. Get a soundstream harmony dsp or ask the parts express team to get you proper inline crossovers for each speaker.

maybe you can help me understand why, Ive had 25 people tell me it will work and a few that say it wont. Even PPi told me it would. Ive farted around with it on my Alpines, Ive filtered the front channel to just deliver highs to the tweets and ran the rear channel to the mids and set the cross over accordingly. It sounded decent that way, but I think one of my tweeters and a mid is toasted

You don't understand active crossovers, you need to read up.

What about the stuff you already ordered? Don't give up so quick. But I can't argue that. A better comp set may be your best bet.
