haha, i'd just get 3 assassin 12's and put one in her car sealed and then port two of them for yourself. loud(er) and better sq than the cvr's.

also, if you want cheap, good sounding coax's, look into the pioneer rev's. best i've heard under $100 (online price, check my sig).

xluben, quick question i have ot ask. how did those rev's fit? you have to cut? ive been meaning to get a pair for my girls 00 civic.

if the civic is the same, the plastic piece in the second pic will have to be removed or altered. it doesn't offer nearly enough mounting depth.

when i put in my infinity reference 6.5's i just took out the plastic piece and drilled new holes into the sheetmetal of the door.

for the rev's i decided to cut out the back of the plastic piece. it took about 5 minutes with a hack saw and now they fit perfiectly! and then all the screw holes line up so it's a very easy install. i suggest this method!

good luck. i'd try taking apart her door first to see what's back there.

Off topic, how do you measure the wood to get a box flush mounted? Say I was gonna build the box for the Assassin, the deminsions would be 20"w x 14"h x 12"d made out of .75" MDF, to get a total of 1.4cf (Got that from the12volt.com calculator) I know you cut off some for the 2 sides, top & bottom so it will sit inside the top and bottom piece. How do you know how much to cut? (So I can tell the person at Lowe's the exact deminsions to cut)

I made my last box flush mounted thanks to someone's box plans but I can't remember exactly how much was cut off. I just know that each side, front, back was cut an inch or half an inch, but I can't remember.

Can anyone let me know? Thanks.

Not if I don't have to, but if I should then I will.

For example, my last box plans was 30"w x 14"h x 17"d for 2 CVR's. The top & bottom pieces were 30 wide x 17" height. The front and back are 30" wide by 12" height (I think it's 12", so when you look at the front of the box, the front is 12" height plus the thickness of the top and bottom pieces making the whole thing 14" height.)

Hopefully that makes a little sense. Now, my question is, how much do you know to cut off so it can slide perfectly inside the box basically, so it sits inside the top and bottom pieces? Same for the sides.

But I won't have the gap showing like that one does. To try and make more sense, you lay the bottom piece down, and you glue the sides, front, back onto the bottom piece, the front and back being a little smaller than the sides so when you lay the top piece down, it slides down and it blends in with the front & back. I think the box looks better and easier to make like that so I'm wondering how much to cut off from the front and back so I want to make it flush mount, total being 14" height.

OH! I had to re-read that like 6 times before I got what you meant. The MDF is 0.75" thick, so if you're going to attach the top inside of the walls as opposed to on top of the walls like most of us, then the sides must be 13.25" tall. You put them on top of the 0.75" thick bottom piece, you get 14".
