Getting out of the military.

good luck being back in this crazy "civilized nation." enjoy your stay!
seriously, I hope you transition well with no problems. Do you think it'll be tough? if so try seeing a therapist or psychiatrist for an assessment.
No I am not crazy lol, I have a good wife and my family is pretty well off so I should be ok. What will be nice is if I am sick I can just use a sick day, not have to work no matter how you feel and always feel like your obligated to so much.

where you moving to? man working in the civilian world is terrible sometimes. People just have poor social skills. I dunno if you will have an issue with that, just be ready. if ur from maryland I would expect you to be used to it, but just in case. I mean really, people are are straight Aholes in the workplace

I am staying here in MD. I am about 90% sure I have a job lined up already it pays a little bit less because the benefits drop but I should advance faster. I work with mostly civil service and contractors now so I already know how to act around them.

what rank where you when you left?

Good luck......

I was 4 years active duty in the army from 02-06. I got out after a very hard tour in Iraq but thats another story. I got out with plans of going to school, using the G.I. Bill and all. After being out of school for so long I found out that it is very hard to get back into the swing of things lol. I was a contractor working for Akima Logistics for while helping soldiers train before heading over seas and let me tell you the contractor world is cut throat. I mean you could have work for a couple months but if your company get outbid you could take a major pay cut or be SOL not have a job at all.

Right now I am civil service and work at a Army Maintenance shop that requires that I maintain membership in the Army Reseves. Civil service is all about who you know not what you know also know as the Good ol boy system. The only reason I got this job is because I knew one of the supervisors who happen to be my commander in the reserves at the time. I would suggest to you that you sit down with your wife and make a plan. I would also start to do some major networking (like I said it's who you know not what you know). I was very fortunate to have the position I hold right now as I make more now then I did on active duty. I am telling you to be prepared for hard times. Network network network.
