Getting out of the military.

Well after 7 years of being in the Navy I am planning on getting out soon. Medical problems and just being tired of always being gone have caught up to me. I am planning on staying in the same basic field just as either a contractor or civil service. Anybody ever been in the military before and got out, I am nervous as hell because its been so long since I have had a ordinary life. Wish me luck.

well,

welcome back to the civilised world.

was in the military 2 yrs ( compulsory conscript down here).

getting out of the army was like being set free from prison! hahaha..

Only thing i can say is, u gotta watch how you talk to people in your new job as well, some things just kinda follow u out of the military..

seriously, I hope you transition well with no problems. Do you think it'll be tough? if so try seeing a therapist or psychiatrist for an assessment.

so did i, but i caught it fast enough where it wasnt crazy. i was maybe 1k in the hole. but i worked it out.

Was out in Pearl Harbor for a little while, got out in 2005. Just make sure you have a game plan, start making resumes and trying to look for a job before you get out.

i know we had a transition program that helps you transition, and helps you get a resume, apply for jobs/schools...etc (Army Career Assistance Program...iirc ACAP)
