Gaz Mileage Vs Sound system

My car is already consumming more then 20% than what it's supposed to. I'm getting 12Liter/100km on a hyundai elantra gt full equip... still a lot more than the 8-9 l/100km it's supposed to give me in town.

Everyone say it's because of the fact i already have more than 400lbs over what the "stock" model weight.

With my new amp coming, i'll need to add more batts and a hi-output alty... i know the alty will higher my gaz consumption. batt weight alot too....

How does your system affect your gaz mileage? how much difference you saw from stock to fully pimped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Gaz is so expensive in canada, i wish i lived in usa... just for that and the nice weather

btw : 4 cylinder, 140hp on tap, pretty much an "economical" car... but it's not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I havent noticed a huge difference at all. I mean i still get around city and highway combined i get around 27mpg. And i have well over 400lbs in the trunk....
what car? mazda 6 i guess?

can it be worst on car without alot of torque?

I mean, i'm accelerating like an old lady.. and not even making full stop... just to save some gaz:crap:

I have around 400 lbs in the trunk and lost about 2mpg in total,But I still get about 20 on average so i'm happy. The most amazing thing is I dont have any sag in my springs. Subaru FTW

I don know, my car is just slow in general so i dont really care about how fast i get off the line or whatnot. I have **** near no torque lol, my car is weak, it does alright....

The curb weight of a stock 1996 4 door Jeep Cherokee is 2955 lbs. I took mine over the scales without me in it and it weighed in at 4515 lbs - that's a system weight of 1560 lbs.

I get around 19 on the highway, 15 in city. I also can do the 1/8th mile drag strip track at 11.31 on a good run at 60 mph.

I was also runner up in the 2009 NHRA Southeast Division Doorslammers Nationals Trophy class here in West Point, KY two weeks ago. who say's you can't drag race a groundpounder? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2004 Hyundai Accent

33MPG in the city, and when we drove to Milwaukee (6+ hours) I got 42MPG, lol. It was epic. This was with a small system, and I don't think I had installed my HO alt yet. If I drive around slamming my system I definitely see a decrease of gas mileage.

what kind of upgrade would i need to add another 300-400lbs? rear shock and better brake? that's it?
also how does the hi-ouput change the mileage?

Brakes, not so much. I would at least suggest air shocks or air struts. And the Hi output alternator makes a negligible difference.

I kinda disagree. I don't know everything about how alternators work, but before I tightened up my belt, when my subs would hit really hard, the belt would squeal, meaning it was slipping. So more current drawn must equal more torque on the alternator. This has to transfer to less gas mileage. I drive the same route 2 or 3 times a month and the last time I drove it I got 1 or 2 less MPG, but I was also playing full tilt the entire way. Now there could be a 100 other things that could have affected my gas mileage, this was only one occurrence, but I'm just saying I think the effect might be a little more than negligible.

But like I said, I don't know everything about alternators, so I could be wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I also heard something that looked like that. also heard that 25amp take away 1hp, does that seems accurate?
