Gaz Mileage Vs Sound system

Here is how I look at this. If you are stupid enough to have more than 2 subs pushing more than 300 watts each and have to have a secondary battery or a upgraded alt. You are going to have poor gas millage and serves you right. There is not reason to have that much bass in any car I do not care what it is.

less cash on gaz = more money for system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Never had the chance with my Tundra as my 10, components, box, and amps were transferred to it from my 04 Dakota the day I bought it. It's not a huge elaborate setup so it doesn't add all that much weight.

My personal best for mileage with one shallowmount 10, small box, 2 amps, maybe 80-100 pounds worth of equipment Im guessing, plus 300 pounds of passengers and gear, was 18.7 all highway. This is a 5.7 liter 4x4 Crewmax, the REALLY big one. I only ever drove for mileage that once.

After this, went back to being a leadfoot and Im usually between 14 and 16 mpg overall. I now forget why I didn't get a half ton the first time around. This truck gets better mileage than my Dakota did and didn't cost that much more.

stock-about 20mpg highway

with rims-about 16mpg highway

with system too-about 12mpg highway

but it is well worth it

i also need to upgrade the suspension. i went and picked up some new batteries yesterday, and with the added weight of the batts in the back, my tires have an inch or so of clearence from the wheel wells

i havent checked my mpg much, but it goes down a tad bit... what I did notice is when I add the two 60lb solo x's, the 75lb box, and the amps/wire/batts, I lose quickness... there is a spot getting off the interstate that I can get to about 64 from a dead stop to a line in the road, with the system I can only pull about 60 to that same line. Bah!

my car seems dropped from the rear... but it's not .. wonder why //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

no one actually answered about the stock alty to hi-output alty... any difference?
