I have 2 amplifiers,i has a 30 amp fuse on it and the other has 2- 40amp fuses.I will also be running 4 gauge power from battery to the distribution power block.my quetion is i want to use a circuit breaker for my in-line fuse under the hood, what amp rating does it need to be?and what could i get by with?also i will have two fuses in the dist. block, what rating should they be?Thanks

110 amps worth of total fuse rating. could go with less, could go with slightly more, although wouldnt recomend too much more.
Are you refering to the circuit breaker i should go with 110amp?How low could i go do ya think?what about the dist.power block fuses??

if you have a fused d-block, why do you need a circuit breaker? thats just wasting money buying things you dont need... kinda like getting a vasectomy and still pulling out...

but 110 amps worth of fuse on the d-block and/or the circuit breaker. you can go with as low of a fuse rating as you want to go, but the chances of it blowing are going to increase as you use smaller fuses...

you have to have something near the battery,so i thought a circuit breaker would be good and also are you saying i should use a 30 amp fuse(dist. block)for my 30 amp amplifier and a 80 amp fuse(dist. block) for my 80 amp amplifier??

doesent matter where you put them on the d-block, its a solid piece of metal, its not going to adjust the fusing for whichever amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you could use a 30a fuse with an 80a fuse, a single 110a fuse, two 55a fuses, a 10a and a 100a fuse... etc etc... anything that adds to 110a.

if you havent bought the d-block yet, then save some money and dont buy a fused one, you dont really need it. one under the hood, and the fuses on the amps will be plenty.

wlmrs, ignore this - Hoss clearly has no understanding of the function of a fused d-block,

And according to this...

He has little understanding of power wire installation whatsoever.

The fuses on the amp do nothing for the smaller wire coming from the d-block, which is the point of USING a fused d-block. It's to protect those wires, not the amps.

You might want to have your prescription updated...

Solid in, two pieces out.

Your original plan is fine with the 110A breaker. Actually, you may want to go to 125A - I believe a breaker will trip the instant it reaches its rated current, and since your 4 ga wire will safely pass ~125A you may reduce the times you have to reset the breaker if you go with something larger than 110A. Just a thought.

Your fuses at the d-block should be fine at 80/30. However fuses do not blow the instant they see rated current so you can go a bit lower, plus 80A is a bit high for 8 ga. If it were me I'd probably go with 60A for the big amp.
