Fuse Problem

Okay, recently I just installed another amp(500/1) and everytime I play it decently loud for a short period of a time, my fuse blows. My friend told me that switching from 4gauge wire to 0gauge wire would help this problem. I was just curious if it was true before i spent about $60 dollars on the wire. Any help would be appreciated.

The power wire is fused to what it can handle, not what the amps can handle.
(The amps should be seperately fused close to them, if they dont have a fuse built in.)

Definately need a bigger power wire.
thank you for your input but i already knew that I was getting into just an easy way for him to do it himself by just adding all the fuses on the amp also if he needed a larger wire. 4gauge should handle 500/1 dont you think? also i do know also that the fuse is the protect the wire not the amp thanx for refreshining my memory...

He said the 500/1 was "another amp", which sounds like he already had an amp in the car before he installed that one.

Dont know what the other amp is, but if he's using a low quality 4ga. wiring kit its quite possible for 800w to be too much.
