ok ill take it off. looks like theres onlyone alen screw an it should come off?
a bad ground could cause this.

if it was a bad ground or bad connection, why would it melt just the once and work fine for 6-8 months after the fact? this is what troubles me. certainly the bad ground or connection wuould eventually lead it to pop or something?
