you forgot the jl clause though. The x-8 may actually be a better woofer... But the w7 is made by jl and is therefore better.

what kind of mounting depth are we looking at? hopefully less than 5.5" because 8" drivers are tailor fitted for vehicles with less mounting space (if i drove a tahoe i would not be running 8's, but since i drive a crew cab i dont have a choice)

Sorry, but it's not that shallow -- it is a full ~6.8" or so (almost the same depth as 8W7, actually)

This is really a niche product for those that must have 8s but want the baddest thing there is.

E8's dont last on ebay or the classifieds for more than 3 days! Hell yeah they get sold a lot! and i just got my first set!

Jacob, do the E8's actually get sold much? I never really hear much about them and they have a pretty low rating on woofersetc..

It one needs a shallower 8" we have the E8 v.2 and SA-8

For a no holds barred 8" woofer it would be like punching yourself in the face to artificially limit it with a depth restricted frame. The clearances in the frame are necessary in order to make it what it is; the baddest 8" on the planet. They also result in a deep driver.
