Front and Rear, or Front only.....?

I have a choice between using a PPI PCX480 for front and rear OR, using a PPI PCX2200 to drive a single set for the front.

Which do you think is the better option?

The 480 puts out 80x4 and the 2200 200x2 at 4ohms.

I have a 4dr sedan with 6.5 openings in front and 6x9 rear.

Any thoughts or opinions?

depends on the person. are you hard core SQ? do you know what a soundstage is? if no, you'll be fine with rear speakers

meh, I don't think that one has to be "hardcore" SQ in order to go with fronts only in a sedan. If you can hear the rear speakers then your soundstage is all fvcked up. If you can't, then you have just wasted your money. It can get a lot more detailed, but that pretty much covers it.

true, maybe i shouldnt have said hardcore. and sq person will say no to rears. if you care not about sq you'll be fine with rears.

front only...if u know how to set the TC correct to 'bring' the sub to the front

Unmentioned so far is what type of media will you be playing?

If just music, front only is fine.

But if your HU is a DVD player too, use rear speakers (with the gains set low) for better movie sound effects.

this is why i have rears. my music is all fronts normally, unless i am feeling froggy and wanna get loud

Only music here, no DVD's.

Thanks for the thoughts. Im a SQ guy, just not hardcore so to speak. Meaning I wont go as far as making custom dash enclosures and stuff like that. I was looking into a set of good quality 6.5's coax or comp that handles 150w rms.

How about the JBL Gti Series?

Looking for something nmt $300.
