LULZ I had the same thing happen to me. I went to my local shop and they was trying to to get me to buy a JL w7. Since Jacob is working on the sexy X-8 I'm waiting on him to start the 12 so I can take it up there and show them real car audio. But they will have some crappy excuse like they normally do..

nope i asked him about a box.... he said there is no point you can just buy a prefab and claims the box doesn't matter all that much...

good bass is 10% equipment and 90% box/install. and a fun comparison for kicker and sundown, how many kicker 8'' subs are doing 152 usaci or will handle the 1600 watts that sean is putting to a sa-8 in his crx.

I hate kicker and am in no way endorsing anyone to buy the chinese crap but i will go on record to say i broke 140@42hz with 2 cvr 12's in 4.5 cubes @ 35hz on a zx750.1 , but it sounded terrible. oh so terrible. i hated those subs and amp.

SA and a square sub do not compare in SPL in any way.

I would run SA over kicker daily though.

I have seen a L7 8" do amazing things. My lil brother beat the hell outta one for almost a year with a zx750.1 , that sub could take a beating!! He finally pushed it so hard that the glue let loose at the surround/frame glue joint.

funny you say that........ when the l-7's came out, the 2 departments at stillwater/kicker had an internal comp. between the sub designers and box designers......... single l7-8 did like 155 on the single 8 in a 5.x cu wall in a ranger....... i'm sure it sounded like dog poo, but verry loud dog poo....... just sayin...

You must hate bass if you hate Kicker. Kicker makes a good quality sub IMO. I've ran W7, w6v2, Aq, DD, RE, Ascendant, and too many others to name. I do not like square subs, but Kicker round subs are good. If you heard the right setup you'd probably change your mind? Kickers hit hard and low in the right box. Kicker is not the best. If you install the Cvx's properly, you should be impressed. Have you even heard Kickers installed properly?
