Freelanders Build Log

Gonna be some good sounds comin out of this car. Can't wait to see some install pics. Curious how hard the Land Rovers are to work with too.
Not hard at all, about the only problem I've had with it is one of the window motors. That was caused by my 3yr old daughter though...lol

Other than that the LR has been good to me. Oil Changes are a lil pricey due to it using a fully synthetic that is not common in many other vehicles.

cool, things have changed for the better over the years, and with Ford owning Land Rover there is more commonality between them all and between them and the domestics now.

Sub box looks good so far, and some nice aero ports.

Thanks, I'm going to be building some trim panels too so that the box ties in with the rest of the interior with the amps and crossovers flushed into the panels.
sweet, I like it when everything gets integrated nicely into the interior and works with it instead of just being a box or an amp rack sitting there.

nice stuff. also on the amp. the amp is very efficient and the 300hc I wouldn't run it at 1 ohm at all unless its modded. it will blow
I've owned the amp for over 6 years. It won't blow with the gains set low. Its actually got a protection circuit that limits the current in 1ohm so that it does now blow.

If you would like to learn more about the amp here is a nice little review that tells about it. Click For D300HC Review

just saying be careful Ive seen them go. Ive owned 6 before and im on a new 2100. I like the older ones better. but get us a vid when you done. looking good.
The sub is going to be sent to Fi for a recone to D1 coils soon, that way I can run the amp 2ohm. I'm just going to run at 1ohm with the gains set low to test after I get everything done.

Either that or I'm going to get the amp modded to 1ohm stable. I know MMATS will do it, not sure on the cost. Is there anyone else on here that can mod the amp?

Eh working at Budweiser and owning a tanning salon and left me with almost no time to work on the build.

I get off work at 7pm tonight so I'll have an hour or two to work on some stuff, looks like I have Sunday off from Budweiser so that will be nice. I've worked 7 days a week for 2 months now it will be nice to have a day off!

The Helix Comps came in, as well as the Knukonceptz stuff. Still need to order the Hertz HSK 165's for the front as well as the Alpine 9887. That should be soon though!

Going to try to do two runs of 1/0 inside the vehicle if I can fit it, if not the power will be ran inside and the ground will be ran under the vehicle. I'll find out once I take some more of the interior apart.

dang hopefully ya get more of a break in the near future before ya burn up.

Sounds like some good game came in for ya though, least something pretty to look at.

I ended up running my power and ground along the frame and popped up in the truck. Seemed a bit easier to do, but took a bit more to ensure the wires were sufficiently protected. Standard 1" Split loom with some electrical tape works very good, or some guys have used pvc pipe even for competition installs.

Looking forward to any progress when ya get a chance to work on it again.

Well got the box completely sanded down, duraglassed all the holes and seems. I'm going to let that dry tonight then sand it down again and prime it. Hopefully I'll get a couple coats of paint on it before I have to go to work.

For some reason neighbors don't like hearing power tools at 11pm....lol

I also got one run of 1/0 ran INSIDE the vehicle on the drivers side. I'm going to see if I can run the other run of 1/0 on the passenger side. My RCA's are on that side but as long as everything is grounded well I shouldn't have any problems.

should have some pictures tomorrow! Box should be done and painted, 1/0 should be ran and the Kinetik HC800 hooked up if I can find a place local to buy some 1/0 ring terminals. Might go ahead and install the Helix Comps. I'm buying the Hertz HSK165 comps for up front soon.

Well I'm pretty much done with the box. I have a couple touch ups I need to do around one of the ports but its not that noticeable. That's what you get when you let your little brother help.

I ordered some 1/0 ring terminals but won't get them till this week. Do hardware stores carry 1/0 ring terminals? I also ordered some KnuKonceptz 2-Channel and 4-Channel Krystal RCA Cables (6Meter) so those will be here here this week too.

Now all I need to do is order my Alpine 9887 HU and Hertz HSK165 comps!
