I ordered 2 Memphis audio MXA8D4 subwoofers in a hurry and didn’t realize they were considered free air. I’m wanting to install them in a sxs so an enclosure would be needed. My question is can I put them in a sealed box and be ok or should I return them and look for something else?

"Free air" woofers mean it will want a very large sealed box to sound good. Sealed is generally rather forgiving so if this is your plan anyway you may do OK.

Look at the Alpine Type S subs.

Thanks for the feedback. It was a long shot but there will definitely be much more powerful subs in the trunk, so clearing it out isn't an option...
