I'm 16, and I'm getting a AQHDC318 powered by an AQ200D Amp. I'm honestly clueless when it comes to the elctrical stuff. This is going in a 2007 Ford Escape XLT. I was wondering what are the needed elctrical upgrades and what are some that just simply might be a good idea for my install. I'm not quite sure if theres any other iformation you guys need. I really don't want to blow up my car LOL! But, thank you in advance.

Assuming you mead the AQ1200D, and assuming you'd be running it at 1-ohm...

That's about 125 amperes RMS, at least. Not sure on the alternator for that car... but you're probably gunna need an upgrade. I'd recommend getting a 250 ampere alternator. At least getting a few batteries for the back. But, that's just a band aid... and odds are it will be as expensive as a 250 amp alternator.

You can try it with out the alternator, and just try your luck with the big 3. But if I was doing 1200 @ 1-ohm, especially 1-ohm, I'd upgrade my electrical unless the electrical is badass stock. That's for you to do research on.

Why do you give such bad advice... always?Batteries are like capacitors. They're band aids.

What's the point of making a bigger pool for water to drain from if the main source of water isn't >= the amount being drained?
jeez, laying it on pretttty thick..

hes only running 1200rms....u dont need to upgrade alt for that little of power. U want him to spend 300+ on a alt when he doesnt even need it. Wise up fool.

get some 0/1gauge for power/ground

do the big 3 in 0/1gauge

get a nice batt upfront, kinetik or something along those lines.

If u have some problems from there, u might need to add a batt in the back.

You could probably get by with 1/0 and the big 3 done. I had a memphis ST1000 and a ST2004 in a Mercury Cougar and all I did was run 1/0 and the big 3. I currently have around 2000rms in my current car which is a Sunfire and all I've done is Big 3 in 1/0 and 1/0 ran from the front battery to a stinger SPV70 battery in the rear and I get no dimming. Been running the same amp setup for about 2 years now and have had no issues with it.
