First time install.Component system.

Hey I'm new to the forum and car audio in general.

I have a 2005 Cavalier.

I want to install a Boston SPZ60 Component system.

I know it would be better to leave something like this to a professional but I am pretty stubborn and really want to do it myself.

Ideally I would like step by step instructions but any answers to my following questions would be much appreciated.

I know I have to increase the space in the door to mount the speakers.

How do I do this, tin snips ?

What is the best way to set up the crossovers and the amp ?

Will the crossovers fit in my door panel ?

What is the best place to hide the wires running to the amp ?

What amp/sub is recommend to use with this system keeping cost in mind ?

Any do's don'ts tricks and tips anyone can suggest would be awesome.

I'm super new to all of this and understand that a response would take a little while to write, so I thank anyone who is willing to help in advance. The only way to learn is to ask.

First off doing it yourself shouldnt be left to anyone but you, its your car and you should make sure its done right. Just because you dont know how yet, dosnt mean with research you cant do it right. Its really much easier then new people tent to think.

First off what amp are you using to push these speakers? And does your head unit accept RCAs? WHat model, you never stated so just wondering

What do you mean increase space in the door? Are they to wide or to deep???

Some crossovers can do in the door, like mine are in my door. But others prefer to have the by the amp(if you can) then just run long set of power wires to them on the side along the door. Its where the rest of your cars electrical have already been ran.

Power wires go from amp to crossover then other terminals on crossover power to that you will lead to the speaker. Where ever they mount thats out of the way, keep in mind amp could use some airflow.

Sub with amp ide say we need a better idea of your budget then cost in mind. We can recommend some stuff to you when we know more. But know that a custom box will run you about 100 if you have it built and about 60-70(???) if you do it yourself. Keep in mind guys im thinking he wants a 10 or 12 lol not big stuff

Just DONT install anything until you have done a bit of research. Watch some videos, read some build logs. Worth thing you can do is rush into this and fry some nice new equipment
