First system, i have no idea what i should get with my dub 10's

So i'm putting my first system together, i've already ordered 2 Rockford Fosgate prime R1 10" subs in a sealed box, plus a wiring kit (since they were both on sale ;D).

I don't know the first thing about amps, so I want to get some "knowledgable" opinions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The specs are:

Woofer Impedance: (2) 4-Ohm SVC, Internally wired in parallel to create a 2-Ohm amplifier load

Power Handling: 300 Watts RMS, 600 Watts Max

As you may imagine I really don't know what all this means, and how it coincides with the amplifier.

So I come to you audio enthusiasts begging for some help to hook a brotha up. I'm a half and half rock/metal and hip hop kinda guy, which is why I went with the 10's in a sealed box. I'm much more into Sound Quality than i am giant, rumbley, drown out the music bass hits (if all this helps).

I'm not afraid to spend a little dough to get a GOOD amp, but I also want to stay in the $150 or less range (though i may go up to 200). My friend has an 800w RF amp he wants to sell for 200, but i'm thinking thats TOO powerful for the speakers, and i definitely want them to last... not blow them in 1 year. So help me out bro's, hook me up with some good info here. Teach me.

+1 internets to all who help out.

I also just realized that in the specs for the Speaker Connector section: Up to 12 AWG compression terminals.

and I ordered this kit: DB Link PK4Z 4 Gauge Power Series Amplifier Installation Kit

Did I screw up already? lol if so lemmee know what kind of wiring i need to have.

Thanks to all in advance.

stick with 300-600 watts rms at 2 ohms .what you should do is get an amp that does more power at 1 ohm like 1000 watt srms at 1 ohm and 500 watts rms at 2 ohms that way if you want to change your woofers later it will give you more options

Dont expect much. Those subs are not very good. If you just want a little bass it will be fine
Well I figured they weren't amazing quality or anything, but i'm not trying to wake up the neighborhood or anything. I just want some quality speakers that will bump for me INSIDE the car without blowing big bucks on top brand/series stuff.

Also should i be going for a mono amp or multi channel?

And should i go ahead and get a capacitor while i'm at it?

for your purpose, a mono amplifier is better. the one that was listed will do just fine

Could you go into a little detail as to why mono is better for the setup? I just wanna learn a little while i'm at it. Since i listen to alot of rock, would 2 channel be better to hear the left/right pounding of the drums?

And what mylows10 said sounds like a good idea, a bigger amp that I can continue to use later on after getting new speakers (which i know i would definitely upgrade in the future) sounds ballin'. So I have a feeling that mentioned amp would only last as long as the speakers do, which would be a pain to spend a ton of money on a whole new setup next time.

Sorry if I sound a little pesky, but I like to know what im doing/buying before I throw money at it. (i like to be smart with money, or as others would say: "cheap") I just wanna pick up some knowledge as I go along. Don't be afraid to throw some more expensive items out there for me.

You're running a single 2 ohm load - a single signal is mono. A mono amp for a mono signal. Perhaps this amplifier if you want to buy something you can keep for a future upgrade? MB Quart ONX1.1000D - ONYX Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier/Amp You'll have to set the gains conservatively since it's more power than you currently need, but it will give you plenty of room to upgrade in the future.

please do not buy a capacitor

they have been proven to only remove money from your wallet and only very very rarely help with a system at all.

You want a mono amp - sounds below 100HZ are omni-directional (that means it is hard to figure out where they are coming from)

You would not hear drums in stereo

A mono amp is typically more efficient and better suited for bass reproduction

So then why did you buy the cheapo rockfords before researching them here too? And the 4ga kit is good, your speaker inputs will take up to a 12 ga input. which is usually good for most setups.

You are right, i pretty much went with the brand name assuming they would be decent quality, though I know I wasnt buying any top quality subs. But the price was right, and I really liked the fact that they are in a box made FOR them specifically. Do you have any suggestions of some better 10" choices with the same ~150 bucks price tag already enclosed in a sealed box?

Honestly i came across this site looking for more info into this stuff, so I had already ordered them before i registered and started posting here. I don't care if you criticize me, im a noob :p just lookin for some help.
