First car - in need of some pointers in hooking it up with a half decent system.

Hey everyone,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in the whole car audio scene, but I just bought a '94 Suzuki Vitara and I'm looking to set it up with a half decent system and I've got a couple of options and am in need of some advice on what road to travel down.

So the car itself came with 2 x 6" x 9" 3 way speakers in their own enclosures just sitting right at the back (its a 4 seater). And to be perfectly honest they might do for someone like my dad, but it makes me sad hearing my tunes presented so poorly.

My uncle passed down to me a nice little head unit, a pair of 10cm 2 way Clarion speakers and a pair of 16cm 2 way Clarion speakers. I'm planning on buying a 12" sub and an amp (I am thinking a HiFonics HFI12D4 12`` 600 Watt Subwoofer)

So my thoughts are:

Install the 10cm's into the front (they fit the space under the glovebox/steering wheel)

Install the 16cm's into the side of car in the back (behind the passenger and drivers seats)

and have the sub in the back.

Would this be a half decent setup or what (i'm not after the hectic wild shit like some of you guys have going on in yours, but enough that it produces a pretty solid sound).

Also, Would you suggest running the 10cm's off the Head Unit and then buying a 3/4 channel amp for the sub and the two 16cm speakers?

I would love to do something with the 6" x 9" but i figure I'll just sell them.

Anyway, I'm open to criticism and suggestions because I really have no clue what I'm doing.

Can't offer much help with the information you've provided. Without model numbers for the Clarion speakers, we can't recommend an amplifier or anything.

Provide more specific information and maybe I can give you some help. I've got nothing else to do atm...

yea, you say you're not after the hectic wild shit some of us got going on, but once you get that first system in there, all you want after that is MOAR MOAR MOAR

yea, I actually have a hectic wild Vitara build that's been in my head for the past few months... Airbags, lots of fiberglass, maybe like a tiki theme... something crazy as hell... I can't see any other use/reason of owning a Vitara lol
