Firing options - Tahoe, L7s, ported

I have an '01 Tahoe. I currently have 2 MA Audio XE120s powered by a BX1000D in a sealed enclosure firing to the rear.

I'm moving up to 2 12" L7s in a ported enclosure powered by either a BXI1605D or a BXI2006D. The MAs rear fired rattle the h*ll out of the rear cargo doors. I've deadened them, sealed up the vents, etc and it decreased the rattle A LOT, but it's still very noticeable from the outside when I get on them. That's just ghetto and I don't like it! I'm going to do some more deadening and probably get some spray foam too.

However, I'm thinking ahead about building the enclosure for the L7s. I was thinking about upfiring them. Any thoughts? Experiences? My thought is that upfiring them would decrease the pressure on the rear of the truck and hopefully eliminate the rattles after more deadening.

I've mainly dealt with sealed enclosures. How would port direction affect the sound? Subs fired up, port to the rear? Subs up, port up?

I'm off tomorrow, so I was going to play around with my current setup, firing it upward, forward, etc. just to get a feel for how it affects the overall sound.
