finally installed my custom built prototype mids and tweeters!

The speakers look great. I watched the 2nd video, and yeah the audio quality is garbage. I've found the only thing that has any chance of getting undistorted audio from a sound system is something specifically designed to handle high SPL. That's one reason I chose HTC 10 instead of other nice smartphones as it can handle the music at a level I want to listen to. My other phone is an LG V10, and while the camcorder features are better the mic SPL threshold is complete trash.

its hard to find anything in 44k/24bit the 44/16 in fine.

yea i cranked it too **** high and the mic apparently couldn't handle the input level lol.. after all its on my phone so id expect it to be less than ideal.. the first one is at a lower volume and is a better recording..

Those CDT ancient comps are getting replaced by the Polks. Not installed yet but anxiously waiting.

If this rain and snow ever lets up.

Btw, ceramic dome? Sounds "harsh".

Ive head the momos. Id say they are great for the money but my price on these drivers in bulk is around the same price as the momos online price so its hard to compare them.

Thats like comparing a w1 to a w6..

As for tge ceramic is very similar to a hard dome tweeter but it doesnt have the breakup of the aluminum domes.

Its abit more harsh than the sofedomes like you expect with aluminum but it doesn't sound as harsh and has the air the metal domes have. Would i use it? Yes but id eq it a bit more between 3 and 7k than i would a soft dome..

Sounds pretty good through my Sennheisers. A little thick in the 500-800 region but really good overall.
i was getting some resonance around 180hz. i'm thinking i need to finished the doors but cut -3 cleaned it up where i was having the problem.. the 500-800 seems to be just fine. so as of now i have a cut around 200 of -3 around 2500 of -3 and it sounds decent enough. i really need to figure out how to put those tweeters on axis and make it look nice. any suggestions?

Sorry, when I said thick I was referring to excess energy like a resonace. So the level could be okay relative to everything else but the decay time in that area may be a bit longer. That make sense?
Tweeters on axis is always a bit of work. I like mine low. It's not the popular opinion anymore but very easy to get them on axis when they are far away from you. It's also awesome for playing tweets very low and getting closer to 1/4 space type reinforcement. I say that but I have mine mounted high at the moment, lol. No time for the work involved. Maybe this summer.

I don't know how loud this is in SPL, maybe 110-120 dB based on the ear-o-meter. I have had the car on an AudioControl meter with a different setup. My car isn't loud, but the 10 does a great job with audio recording. Most phones are totally useless for this.

Yea. Its really hard to get any decent fr with a speakers 100 degrees off axis so close to you.

I relocated the tweeters around neck level 20 degrees off axis firing the rear like you would in a theater or home audio alignment but that presents phase issues itself of course.

The resonanse was the door panel. The drivers are naturally peaky between 150 and 300 and the door skin and that plastic **** for a barrier is making it worse.

Once i build some ported pods to go into the doors that will go away fast..lol

I'd be interested in some of these with the carbon cones they look awesome
Yea. They are so nice i was afraid to damage them. Lol

Good news is they arent extremely expensive. They are right around tge price you would pay for a midlevel midbass from a popular company. The active set is ruffly 400 bucks for the two mids and tweeters. The crossovers on the otherhand are costly. For two passive units your looking at another 225 bucks but they use highend parts..
