hi all.........its the inbred islander here from the UK!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

im just wondering what wiring config will suit me & the equipment i have best, now how i should wire the sub before i stick her in the box (its a quad 1ohm so wiring it will be something i only wanna do once..lol)

here what im thinking, my 2 sets of FLI comps in the front of the car are NOT amplified (4x 52w), & im thinking if i wire the sub to 1ohm i really risk drowning out the comps in the front do i not..??

but if i wire to 4ohm (600wrms) will it be enough for the sub to work well...? (Massive Audio DMX15)

now i know SQ wise 4ohm should sound better, & im coming from a measly 10'' Lanzar MAX pushing 300wrms..

so.... will 1500wrms be too much ?? or will 600wrms be too little..??

cheers.

wire it to 1 ohm. You can always turn the gain down. 600rms will be ok but i would set it for 1500rms.
what amp are you running?
its a Mutant MT1500 xxx

its the same amp as the SPL Dynamics 2000D, same manufacturer just a cut back version.

apparently its actually underrated (i know Mutant products aren't the best), but this one actually needs a 200A external fuse.... so the specs i listed for 1ohm should actually be 1760wrms @ 1ohm (measured by a German company called ''dBAkuten'')

i thought the gain was simply to match HU output & not volume control at all..???

cheers;)

Gain is to match the signaL voltage - yes. However. if you turn the sensitivity down it does turn the out put down some as well. There are plenty of post about gains controls and radio rca signals for you to read.

After you wire every thing up, leave the sub amp gain at minimum and get your front speakers set up first. Then when your ready to add the bass, I would leave the volume a a comfortable level and slowly turn the sub amp gain up till your satisfied. but like I said, search around for more detailed threads in the amp section.

so i can use the ''gain'' to control overall volume in a sense....

thanks, i'll have a sift through amp settings....... i have no idea what ''subsonic'' or ''phase'' is either..??

right so i'll wire to 1ohm..... cheers!!

Do you have a remoted contorl for the amp?
nope..... it was an EX-DISPLAY (open box) & never came with one.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

though the sockets for the remotes look universal, will any remote work..??

try to get one by calling them
does your deck have sub pre out? sub control from deck?
cheers subzero.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

it does have a sub pre-out & thats what my RCA's are running off.... so i could control the sub from the HU, it just takes a fair bit of navigation to get there.

i'll send mutant an email see if i can use any remote & then scour ebay for one...

thanks again.
