Final setup, gonna order some tomorrow, any last minute advice?

I would be willing to say the Fi might sound better than the IA.

yeah? I mean I'm getting the same feeling that it might play mid bass better. But will it be able to play as low as the 187? I mean I'm not looking for insane lows, the box will prob be tuned to like idk, 36, 38 hz? So I can get some decent upper range stuff.

I'm still open about the sub and amp, but I'm prob gonna order the components and amp kit today/tomorrow.

haha why? I thought about this but I couldnt find any advantage to the Dcon over the 187 for the price, which is an extra $25.

I saw the DCON was an option, I think that will sound very good. Bumpin' Goalie had 2 10" DCON's, they sounded very very good.

if your concern is SQ more than SPL then take the dcon. it has proven time and time again to be a very affordable SQ driver while still having the ability to get loud

Yeah I'm still unsure about the Dcon or 187. It be cool to hear from someone who has heard both. I'm kinda leaning towards the Dcon now though.

I think I'll pass on the fi X since it would make me need to get the kicker ZX400.1 which is more $$$.

Anyone else with opinions here?

I'm actully taking the Dcon out of the choices since while I hear its good I've read it lacks a little in the mid bass department. So its now between the SDC2.5, IA 187 and possibly FI X.

Has anyone here heard the fi X? I cant find any info at all about it. I need something that will be good with rock music and the occasional rap song.

I know the SDC seems perfect for that but its also the most expensive setup to run. Like 150 more than I plan to spend.

Which is why I'm looking into the FI x and 187.

what "mid bass" area are you talking about that the dcon lacks? the dcon is a very proven sql sub

if your looking for sql, i would stay away from the sdc2.5... the IA would be a good choice as well... but i still prefer a dcon.... dont have any experience with the FI x, so cant comment there

I've just heard it lacks a little up top but that was only in 1 or 2 reviews. As in its struggles slightly to hit those tones. I'm kinda leaning towards the 187 b/c its cheaper too.

Shipped the Dcon is 150, while the IA is like 130. I dont see how the $20 difference is worth it. Do you? I can spend that on speaker wire instead.

I know the SDC is punchy and would sound good for rock and I hear it can get low too. So thats why I feel its the best options.

but its gonna be around $150 more for that sub/amp setup than the 187 route. Which doesnt seem like a lot of money probably to some of you guys, but for a $500 setup, to me it is. I'm ordering everything else first and then getting the sub/amp last so I still have time to decide.

and yeah, seems almost no one has info on the fi X.

Also, b4 I forget. Is it bad the amp for the 187 doesnt have a sub sonic filter? It doesnt seem like many 300rms amps do. how much of a problem is that?

I think you'd be better off with a nightshade or two, but you def don't have the electrical or the amp to power that. So here's a list of what you'll need to really get that Nightshade moving.

280a h/o Alt ($500)

3x hc3100 ($900)

30ft 1/0 ofc ($100)

That's all the electrical upgrades you'll need, I'd go with a SAZ-2500D ($815)

not to mention you need the sub itself which is $525

so you'll need around 3000 dollars onve you include shipping and misc things

lmao, perfect, cant wait to put it in.

Now in reality, my whole systems budget is 500-600. I have everything picked besides the sub and amp. For subs im between the 187 and SDC2.5. Dcon, maybe.

I'm just gonna finish buying everything else. Do more research and probably ask again once I'm 100% ready to order.

But I do need help with one thing, do any of you know of an amp that makes 300-400rms at 2 ohms that has a subsonic filter? Keep in mind, at 2 ohms.

bro... i honestly dont know why your even putting the sdc above the dcon? i love AQ (as you can tell by my current build)... but i'll give props where props are due... the dcon blow them out of the water, any day of the week... just my opinion.. but i think others on here who have run both, will most likely agree.

as far as the amp... why are you looking at just 2 ohm?

Mainly bc the 187 and SDC both are only 2ohm. (not running at 1 ohm)

Im gonna try to find some more reviews about the Dcon>SDC but in that case it would leave me between the 187 and Dcon. I'm really just not sure which way to go.

I just want something that can play both rap and rock well. I'll be having someone build me a ported box so I just need to pick the right sub.

For amps, Im considering the AQ750. So I can run a Dcon @ 4ohms and gett 300rms or a 187 / SDC @ 2ohms and get 500rms.

But I am trying to find an amp that'll make 300rms @ 2ohms that has a subsonic filter like the AQ750. So far no luck.
