fi q sealed or ported

I wouldn't go ported unless you can build a decent size enclosure for it. I tried to squeeze my Fi Q 15 into just over 3 cubes ported tuned to 35 hz and it seems very peaky and although it goes low it doesn't hit the lows with the authority you would expect. I have been throwing around the idea of going sealed just to save some space in my trunk. I rarely jam it full tilt these days anyhow.

for the best quality its sealed. this is more of a sql type driver. its made to sound pretty good but still get down when you want it to. thats why the fi q 18 works great in only 4.4 cubes sealed. get loud and stupid low and keeps nice SQ....for sheer (sp? shear?) output id go with ported but honestly id go with a different sub all together

alrighty i think ill be going sealed for now but i might try ported later on.

do you think that the Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D is a match for the sub or should i go for the Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D?

thanks.

I preferred it sealed, but I'm not a basshead...

I think you'd be fine with the 1000D...

Go sealed, and I think you'd like the results.

I'll post my question here rather than starting another topic.

My old setup was 2 12" RE Se in 4 cft @ 33hz.

Would a 18" FI Q sealed in 5 cft be:

1. louder?

2. lower?

3. sound better?

4. work okay for occasional metal listening?

Thanks

I run a 15" Q in the wife's car, 3.2cubes @ 32Hz and off an SD1500. Sounds good and hits the lows very well for. Took some EQ'ing to clean up the bottom end as it could be boomy at times...
